GIVE ME THE BASICS

What is Pepsi Sound Off?

Pepsi Sound Off is the biggest viewing party ever. You already have plenty to say about your favorite shows — Sound Off gets your voice heard among countless fans across the country.

It's a web application that brings a whole new level to how you watch your favorite shows. You shape the conversation with your comments, you gain fans when people like what you're saying, and you earn points based the number of fans you get for anything you post.

Who can participate in Pepsi Sound Off?

Any fan, anywhere in the USA. All you need is either a Twitter or Facebook account and – boom. You're ready to Sound Off.

How do I start using it?

Log in while you're watching and jump into the conversation feed by posting comments using hashtags.

Do I have to use my real name, or can I use a handle?

You have to log in using either a Twitter or Facebook account. Whatever your social identity is for either of those will automatically be added to Sound Off and merged together for seamless use. So if you're Christopher Walken on Facebook, and iheartcats on Twitter both accounts will be available for you to use without disrupting your progress in the game.

How do I get my friends into it?

Your friends like to watch TV, right? Let them know that now instead of sending you frantic texts every five minutes they can share their love for the show by logging in and speaking up. Here's how you can spread the word:

How do I follow friends and other users?

Currently, you're unable to follow anyone within the application. But you can give props when you see a comment you really like – just click the thumbs up button in a comment box and voila! Instant fan-making. Becoming a fan of a comment actually helps, too. It gives that person points towards advancing to a higher status as a Sound Off user. So, win-win. We'll keep you posted about the ability to follow.

WHAT'S UP WITH THE CAPS?

What are Caps? How do I collect them?

You collect Caps for two reasons: because you completed an action that's worth major points, and so that when you post a comment you can highlight it. If you're laughing, choose a Cap that lets everyone know!

What does it mean when you "fan" someone or "gain fans"?

It's your way of letting people know you like what they're saying, and visa versa. When someone fans your comment, they're a) giving you props and b) giving you points. It's the same when you fan a comment you really like. To fan someone, just click the thumbs up button in their comment box.

What's a hashtag? Why should I make one?

It's a tag that starts a thread within the comment feed. It makes it easier for you to find or start a particular topic that you really want to talk about. It also let's you know what topics are trending (or most popular).

Does Pepsi own the comments I make?

We reserve the right to use your comments for promotional purposes, yeah. One of most exciting things about Sound Off is the chance to be featured on live TV! But you must agree to our Terms and Conditions when you sign up.

We also reserve the right to remove or block comments that we deem inappropriate. In other words, don't use language your mom wouldn't approve of.

Can I post my comments in my Twitter feed? What about Facebook?

You sure can. Before you post, just choose where you want to send it.

Are there limits to how many "fans" I can gain?

Nah. Gaining fans gets you clout – and points. Your points accumulate and help you advance levels. But you can't fan the same comment more than once, and visa versa.

Can I block people whose comments I don't like?

You can flag a comment for inappropriate content, but you can't block someone. That's up to the moderator of the site, who reviews all flagged comments.

How do I report something inappropriate?

Just click the button in their comment box that says 'flag as inappropriate', and the site's moderator will take it from there.

Can I send a direct message to another user?

Oof – unfortunately that's not possible right now. But we're always working on new ways to play with Sound Off, so hold that thought.

Can I edit my comment once it's posted?

Sorry, but you can't edit posts after you've submitted them. You can make sure your comment is so awesome that to edit it would be a crime against humanity, though.

Can someone reply to my comment?

Absolutely they can. Just click to expand right in your comment box so you can see what people have to say.

Can I reply to my own comment?

Yep. You have to be singed in, though.

Can I become a fan of my own comment?

Sorry, no. That wouldn't be fair. But feel free to fan your friends' comments and any comment you think is cool.

How do I know if I've been blocked?

You'll receive a message from our site moderator. If that happens, you can contact us for more information. But in the mean time, please do not make offensive or inappropriate comments.

SO HOW DO I MASTER THIS THING?

What are Pepsi Sound Off Levels? What's that got to do with me?

Levels represent your status as a user of the application.

How do I move up a Level?

You earn points towards advancing a level every time you use Sound Off, and we'll keep you posted on your progress.

Do I get special powers for advancing Levels?

Not magical powers, no. But you do get rewards like unlocking exclusive content, new Caps to play with, and notoriety as a super fan among fans.

How does the Leaderboard work?

It shows you your position against your friends, and other users of Sound Off. The Leaderboard updates every ten minutes, so if you don't see your current stats right away, sit tight.

What is The Spotlight all about?

That's when you've hit it big time. The Spotlight shows the top four users of the week. It lets people know that you've got a lot of awesome things to say, and you've got fans who support you. It also gets you into special Sound Off challenges and establishes you as one of the leaders of the pack.

How do I make The Spotlight?

Keep commenting; keep getting fans. The rest is easy.

Can I earn other rewards from Pepsi?

Coming soon. Sit tight.
